Your Audition Is Won or Lost in the Rehearsal Room
Preparing an audition, competition or premiere in Vienna? How to use a professional studio for audition preparation, casting days and final rehearsals — with practical tips for dancers and choreographers.
The weeks before an audition, competition or premiere decide everything. You need a space where you can run your piece again and again — with a proper floor, a mirror and no interruptions.

For Dancers: Preparing Your Audition
- Rehearse your solo in a small studio. Studio 5 (55 m², €20/hour) is ideal for variations and audition solos — quiet, focused and affordable.
- Film yourself. Many auditions now ask for video. Use the mirrors for corrections, then film a clean take in good daylight.
- Practise on the right floor. A sprung floor lets you repeat jumps and pointe work without hurting your body before the big day.
- Book a fixed daily slot in the last two weeks — routine reduces nerves.
For Choreographers and Companies: Casting Days
Hosting an open audition or casting? Studios 1 and 4 (100 m², up to 25 dancers) give enough room for groups across the floor. Use Studio 5 next door as a quiet room for individual talks or video submissions.

Final Rehearsals Before a Performance
Mark out your stage dimensions on the studio floor (with removable, floor-safe tape), run the piece with music on the sound system and check spacing in the mirror. For longer run-throughs, half-day (4 hours) and full-day (8 hours) bookings are available.
Competition Preparation
Teachers preparing students for ballet and dance competitions often book a weekly private slot for coaching and an extra session the week before to rehearse in costume.

Prices and Availability
€20–€30 per hour depending on studio size, including up to 10 participants (+€5 per extra person per hour). Open 07:00–22:00, seven days a week, at Längenfeldgasse 27, 1120 Wien.
Secure Your Rehearsal Time
Popular evening and weekend slots fill quickly before audition season. Check the availability calendar and complete your online payment right away — the studio is only reserved once paid. More about our ballet rooms on the ballet studio rental page.
Logistics for Large-Scale Rehearsals
When bringing an entire ensemble to our location, coordination is key. With 550 m² of space split across our five studios, you can easily host large groups of up to 25 dancers. If you are preparing for a major production, we recommend Studio 1 or Studio 4 for the main company, while using Studios 2 or 3 as a secondary space for smaller group breakouts or costume quick-changes. Our central hub in Meidling allows your cast to regroup efficiently, as all five rooms are housed under one roof.
To avoid congestion during your sessions, ensure your lead dancers or stage managers arrive fifteen minutes prior to your booking. This allows sufficient time to access our climate-controlled changing rooms and prepare the space before the clock starts. Since we are located just five minutes from the Längenfeldgasse U-Bahn station, your dancers can easily travel via U4 or U6 lines, or arrive via the Badner Bahn, making even early morning rehearsals accessible for everyone involved.
Maximizing Your Sound and Equipment Needs
Precision is essential for any professional rehearsal. Every room at the academy is equipped with a dedicated sound system that is compatible with common playback devices. We recommend bringing your music on at least two devices—a primary phone or laptop and a backup USB drive—to ensure no time is wasted during your high-intensity rehearsal blocks. If your piece requires specific volume levels or rapid sound-cue restarts, have a designated assistant ready to manage the console so you can stay focused on your movement.
In addition to audio, each room comes standard with both fixed wall-mounted barres and portable barres. If your choreography requires unconventional placement for these tools, you are welcome to move our portable barres to match your specific stage configuration. Once your session ends, we kindly ask that you return all barres to their original positions to keep the facility ready for the next group.
The Benefit of Full-Day Rental Packages
For intensive workshops or final dress rehearsals where every minute counts, booking a half-day or full-day session is often more economical and less stressful than piecing together individual hours. A four or eight-hour block provides the continuity needed for long-form creative development without the worry of having to vacate the room exactly at the hour. This is particularly useful when you have extensive lighting or costume adjustments that require a "reset" during your time.
Since our prices remain consistent across all times of day—with no hidden surcharges for evenings, weekends, or public holidays—you can plan your schedule based solely on your artistic requirements. Whether you choose to rehearse at 07:00 to catch the morning light or push until 22:00 to finalize a complex ensemble piece, the rate remains stable, allowing for predictable budgeting for your production or company.
Choosing the Right Studio Size
Selecting the appropriate studio is vital for your artistic output. For intimate solo work or technical coaching sessions, Studio 5 (55 m²) provides a cozy and efficient environment at our most affordable rate of €20 per hour. If you require more space for expansive movement or diagonal work, Studios 2 and 3 (90 m²) offer a mid-sized solution at €25 per hour, while our premier Studios 1 and 4 (100 m²) provide maximum breadth for only €30 per hour.
Keep in mind that our price structure includes up to 10 participants. If your casting session or company workshop exceeds this headcount, a small fee of €5 per additional person per hour applies. By calculating your total attendance during the planning phase, you can ensure the room you select is perfectly suited for your group's size and budget, avoiding last-minute crowding or unnecessary expenses.
Promotional Partnerships and Savings
We are proud to support the vibrant Viennese dance scene and invite choreographers and dance companies to collaborate with us. If you are creating high-quality content and are open to letting our team film or photograph your session for the academy’s own promotional use, we offer a 10% discount on your studio booking. This is an excellent way to reduce your overhead costs while gaining access to our professional studio environment.
If you are interested in this arrangement, please reach out to our administration prior to your booking. We are always looking for dynamic content to feature and would be happy to discuss how we can support your project while capturing the creative energy of your rehearsals at Längenfeldgasse 27.
Frequently Asked Questions About Booking
We often receive inquiries regarding the booking process. The most important thing to remember is that our availability calendar reflects real-time status. Because we serve the academy’s students alongside external renters, demand for the 100 m² studios is high, especially during peak afternoon and weekend hours. We operate on a first-come, first-served basis, and your space is not locked in until the online payment is successfully processed.
Before confirming, ensure you have reviewed the exact specifications of the studio you have selected. If you have questions about specific dimensions or the number of participants allowed in a particular room, please check the detailed descriptions on our ballet studio rental page. Taking a moment to double-check these details ensures a seamless experience for your entire cast or crew the moment you walk through our doors.
