7 Signs You Need to Change Your Dance Studio in Vienna
Hard floor, half a mirror, music at whisper volume? Whether you practise at home, in a gym corner or in a studio that just isn't right — here are seven signs it's time to change your dance studio in Vienna.
Whether you practise in your living room, in the corner of a gym or in a studio that never really felt right — the place you train shapes how you dance. If any of these sound familiar, it's time for a change.

1. You Mark Every Jump
If you never fully jump because of the floor or the neighbours below, you're training a habit you'll have to unlearn on stage.
2. You Can't See Your Whole Body
A small or partial mirror shows your face, not your lines. Full-wall mirrors show alignment, arms and spacing at once.

3. Your Floor Is Concrete Under Laminate
Hard floors don't give. Repeated jumps and landings on them put extra strain on knees, shins and back. A sprung floor absorbs part of that impact.
4. You Slip — or Stick
Slippery wood, sticky rubber or tiles change how you turn and balance. A proper dance surface lets you practise in the shoes you'll perform in.

5. Your Choreography Travels Further Than Your Room
If your piece crosses a stage, you need to practise the travel — not just the steps on the spot.
6. You Can't Turn the Music Up
Practising at whisper volume kills musicality. A proper sound system lets you hear every accent.
7. You Never Get Into "Work Mode"
Distractions, interruptions, people walking through. A booked hour in a real studio is a commitment — and you'll get more done in it than in a whole afternoon elsewhere.
What It Costs to Change
Our smallest room, Studio 5 (55 m²), costs €20 per hour with sprung floor, mirrors, barres and sound. Our larger studios (90–100 m²) cost €25–€30 per hour — all bookable from 07:00 to 22:00 every day at Längenfeldgasse 27, 1120 Wien.
Find your hour in the availability calendar. Pay online to confirm — the studio is reserved as soon as payment is completed.
8. You Are Paying for Dead Time
If you are renting a space that requires you to pay premium rates only during specific "peak" evening hours, or if you face hidden weekend surcharges, you are losing money that could go toward your training. Efficiency isn't just about how you move; it's about how you manage your budget.
At the Wiener Ballettakademie, we believe in transparent, flat-rate pricing. Whether you prefer to rehearse at 07:00 on a Tuesday or 21:00 on a Sunday, the price remains consistent. There are no holiday or evening markups, allowing you to schedule your sessions based on your own peak energy levels rather than the clock.
9. You Are Rehearsing in Isolation
Are you trying to piece together a group choreography in a living room that can barely hold two people? If you have to simplify your spacing or remove lifts because of a lack of square footage, you are compromising your artistic vision. We offer five distinct rooms ranging from our 55 m² Studio 5 to our 100 m² halls (Studio 1 and Studio 4).
We accommodate small groups of up to 10 dancers within our standard hourly rates. If your ensemble is larger, you can simply add extra participants for a nominal fee of €5 per person. This flexibility ensures that your choreography is ready for the stage, not just restricted to the dimensions of a bedroom.
10. You Lack Proper Auxiliary Equipment
Professional dance requires more than just an open space; it requires the correct tools to support your technique. If you are struggling to find a stable surface to practice your port de bras or using a makeshift chair instead of a barre, you are neglecting your alignment. Every one of our five studios is equipped with a combination of fixed and portable ballet barres.
Additionally, we provide fully climate-controlled environments and dedicated changing rooms. Having a professional space to prepare allows you to arrive at the studio, transition into your practice mindset, and leave the outside world behind. When you aren't worried about finding a place to change or adjusting the room temperature, you can dedicate every minute of your booking to your craft.
11. Your Commute Is More Taxing Than Your Practice
If you have to travel across the city to a studio that is inaccessible by public transport, your fatigue will set in before you even begin your warm-up. Location is a vital component of a sustainable training routine. Our facility at Längenfeldgasse 27 is located in the heart of the 12th district, just a five-minute walk from the Längenfeldgasse U-Bahn station, which serves both the U4 and U6 lines.
If you are coming from further afield, we are also conveniently reachable via the 62 tram and the Badner Bahn. Choosing a studio with excellent connectivity means you can spend less time navigating Vienna’s traffic and more time focusing on your artistry.
12. You Are Struggling with Last-Minute Booking Stress
The best studio in the world is useless if you can't guarantee it will be there when you need it. If you are playing phone tag or sending emails to check availability, you are wasting valuable planning time. Our website features a live availability calendar that updates in real-time, allowing you to see exactly which rooms are free at any given moment.
Booking is handled entirely online with secure card payment. Remember that an unpaid request does not secure your slot; the room is only officially yours once the payment is completed. For those planning intense rehearsal periods, we also offer the option to book half-day (4-hour) or full-day (8-hour) blocks to ensure you have consistent access for your projects.
Pro Tip: Reduce Your Costs
If you are an independent creator or a student looking to make your training more affordable, we offer a 10% discount to renters who agree to let our academy film or photograph a portion of their session for our own promotional use. This is a great way to subsidize your studio time while contributing to the wider dance community in Vienna. Simply inquire about this option when you plan your next booking through our system.

The cost breakdown is refreshingly honest. Most studios never publish numbers like this.
This article saved me from signing a lease I would have regretted by month three.
