Too Small, Too Big, Just Right: The Rehearsal Room Test Every Group Should Do

55, 90 or 100 m²? A practical guide to choosing the right rehearsal space in Vienna for your group size, dance style and budget — so you never pay for space you don't need.

Book a studio that is too small and your dancers collide. Book one that is too big and you pay for empty floor. Here is how to pick the right rehearsal space in Vienna.

The Simple Rule: Square Metres per Dancer

For travelling movement — jumps, combinations across the floor, partnering — plan around 4–5 m² per dancer. For static work like Pilates mat classes, yoga or barre, 3–4 m² per person is enough.

Studio 5 (55 m²) — Solo, Duet and Private Work

Up to 12 people. Ideal for private lessons, solo variations, competition preparation, coaching, small Pilates or yoga groups. Quiet and focused, and at €20/hour the most budget-friendly option.

Studios 2 & 3 (90 m²) — The All-Rounders

Up to 20 people. The sweet spot for regular weekly classes, Pilates and yoga groups, contemporary and jazz rehearsals of 8–15 dancers. Because the two studios are identical, they are perfect when two groups need to rehearse at the same time.

Studios 1 & 4 (100 m²) — Big Groups and Big Movement

Up to 25 dancers. Choose these for full company rehearsals, auditions, choreography that travels, grand allegro and workshops with many participants. Both have sprung Harlequin floors and fixed plus portable barres.

Match the Studio to Your Style

  • Ballet and pointe: 90–100 m² with barres and sprung floor
  • Contemporary, jazz, hip-hop: 90 m² for small crews, 100 m² for big formations
  • Pilates, yoga, floor barre: 55–90 m² depending on group size
  • Private coaching: 55 m²

Don't Forget the Extras

Need more people than the base rate covers? Each person beyond 10 costs €5 per hour, so a slightly smaller studio can still be the smarter choice for a large but static group.

Book the Right Room

Compare all studios on our studio rental page, then pick your slots in the availability calendar. Remember: the studio is reserved only after your online payment is completed — so book early for popular evening hours.

Beyond the Hourly Rate: Maximizing Your Budget

While many venues charge premiums for evening or weekend sessions, we believe in transparent pricing. Our rates are consistent seven days a week, from 07:00 to 22:00, with no hidden surcharges for holidays or prime-time slots. This allows you to plan your long-term rehearsal schedule—whether for a production or a recurring weekly class—without worrying about fluctuating costs.

If you are planning an intensive period of rehearsal, consider our half-day or full-day booking options. Securing a block of 4 or 8 hours often simplifies your logistics, ensuring your group has the space to warm up, rehearse, and cool down without the pressure of a quick turnaround. Additionally, if you are open to letting us capture some footage or photos of your session for our own promotional use, we offer a 10% discount on your booking.

Accessibility and Location Strategy

Our facility at Längenfeldgasse 27 is positioned to be easily accessible from across Vienna. Being located just a five-minute walk from the Längenfeldgasse U-Bahn station (serving the U4 and U6 lines) makes it a central meeting point for dance groups who have members commuting from different districts. For those arriving via the Badner Bahn or the 62 tram line, the transit links are equally convenient.

Because the building is shared with our active student body and teaching staff, there is a constant atmosphere of creativity. If you arrive early for your booking, please be mindful of classes already in session. Our central location in the 12th district balances proximity to the city centre with the convenience of a modern facility designed for professional dance needs.

What Every Studio Includes

We believe that a rehearsal space should be ready to use the moment you step inside. To that end, every one of our five studios is equipped with a set of essentials designed to support your work. You will find full-wall mirrors for checking your alignment, as well as a mix of fixed and portable barres that can be moved to suit your specific choreography or exercise routine.

Additionally, each room features its own climate control system to keep the environment comfortable, regardless of the season. A sound system is provided in every studio, and you will have full access to our dedicated changing rooms. We recommend bringing your own connector cables for your specific devices, but the core infrastructure is maintained daily to ensure everything is in perfect working order for your session.

Managing Large Groups and Hidden Costs

When booking, it is important to remember that our base pricing is calibrated for groups of up to 10 people. If your choreography requires a larger ensemble, we can accommodate up to 25 dancers, provided you select the appropriate space. For every participant beyond the initial 10, an additional fee of €5 per hour applies. By calculating your exact headcount in advance, you can avoid unexpected adjustments on the day of your rehearsal.

Occasionally, a group might be tempted to squeeze into a smaller, cheaper room to save costs. We advise against this, especially for high-energy styles. Even if the room technically fits the number of people, movement restrictions can lead to frustration and injury. If you have a group of 15, moving up from a 55 m² studio to a 90 m² or 100 m² studio is almost always the better investment for the quality of your rehearsal.

The Booking Workflow: A Few Tips

Our online booking system is designed for speed and clarity. Since we manage over 550 m² of space across five distinct rooms, we recommend checking our live availability calendar as soon as you have your project dates confirmed. Because our studios are in high demand—both for our internal academy classes and external rentals—it is common for evening slots to be claimed several weeks in advance.

A final reminder: an unpaid request does not secure your space. To ensure your reservation is locked in, you must complete the online payment process in one session. Once the payment is successful, you will receive confirmation that the studio is yours. If you are coordinating a large group, we suggest designating one person to handle the booking and payment to ensure there are no double-bookings or communication gaps.

The cost breakdown is refreshingly honest. Most studios never publish numbers like this.

This article saved me from signing a lease I would have regretted by month three.
