Stop! Don't Book a Photo Studio for Your Music Video
Classic photo studios are made for standing still. If your music video or campaign has dancing in it, a dance studio may give you more space, better floors and better light — for less.
A white cyclorama is perfect for product photos. But the moment your artist starts to dance, a classic photo studio can turn into the wrong location.

Where Photo Studios Struggle With Movement
- Space: many studios are sized for a model and a backdrop, not a group of dancers.
- Floors: concrete or painted floors are hard on performers doing take after take of jumps and floorwork.
- No mirrors: dancers can't check formations between takes.
- Light: some are completely dark rooms — great for control, but every light comes from your budget.
What a Dance Studio Gives You
- Up to 100 m² of open floor without pillars
- Sprung floors so performers can repeat takes safely
- Full-wall mirrors for rehearsing — or for reflections in the shot
- Natural daylight through large windows
- Sound system for playback

When a Photo Studio Is Still the Better Choice
If you need an infinity cove, blackout control or a product set, book a photo studio. For dance, performance and movement content, a dance studio often wins.
Shoot-Day Tips
- Do a short rehearsal block before the camera rolls.
- Protect the dance floor: pads under stands, floor-safe tape only.
- Plan angles so the crew doesn't appear in the mirrors.
- Book set-up and pack-up time into your slot.

Strategic Planning for Large Ensembles
When organizing a shoot for a large dance group, space is your most valuable asset. At the Wiener Ballettakademie, we offer five distinct spaces ranging from 55 m² to our premier 100 m² halls. For groups of more than ten people, we recommend booking Studio 1 or Studio 4. These expansive rooms allow for complex choreography and fluid camera movement without the crew feeling cramped against the walls.
Since our studios are utilized by our academy students and teachers throughout the day, the rooms are meticulously maintained and always ready for professional use. Whether you are filming a small solo piece in Studio 5 or a full-cast music video in our largest halls, the consistency of our environment ensures that your production remains professional from the first take to the last.
Understanding Our Pricing and Booking Logistics
We believe in transparent, straightforward pricing. Our rates are consistent regardless of the day or time: Studio 5 is €20 per hour, Studios 2 and 3 are €25 per hour, and Studios 1 and 4 are €30 per hour. Your booking includes up to ten people on set. Should your production require a larger crew or a bigger cast, we apply a nominal fee of €5 per additional person per hour. There are no hidden surcharges for weekends, holidays, or evening shoots.
Our booking system is entirely digital to offer you maximum flexibility. You can view our live availability calendar on our website to see exactly when your preferred room is free. Because our rooms are in high demand, please note that a studio is only officially reserved once the secure online card payment is completed. Unpaid requests do not hold a slot, so we recommend finalizing your payment immediately after selecting your time to guarantee your spot.
Maximizing Your Time and Budget
Time is money on a film set, and we have designed our booking process to help you optimize your schedule. We offer half-day (4 hours) and full-day (8 hours) blocks, which are ideal for longer production days that involve complex lighting setups or multiple costume changes. Because our doors are open from 07:00 to 22:00, seven days a week, you can easily schedule your production to fit the availability of your performers, even if they have professional commitments during traditional business hours.
For those looking to optimize their production budget further, we offer a 10% discount on your rental fee. This applies if you agree to let our team capture some behind-the-scenes footage or photographs of your session for our own promotional use. It is a fantastic way to secure a professional space at an even more competitive rate while gaining a little extra exposure for your project.
Accessibility and Logistics in Vienna
Convenience extends beyond the studio walls. We are located at Längenfeldgasse 27 in the 12th district (Meidling), making our facility easily accessible for cast and crew coming from anywhere in the city. You will find us just a five-minute walk from the Längenfeldgasse station, which serves both the U4 and U6 lines. If you are arriving from the south, we are also conveniently reachable via the 62 tram and the Badner Bahn (WLB).
Once you arrive, you will find that our studios are fully equipped for your comfort. Every rental includes access to dedicated changing rooms, climate-controlled environments to keep your performers comfortable during high-intensity scenes, and professional-grade sound systems for your music playback. We also provide both fixed and portable ballet barres, which can be utilized as practical elements within your video or as useful tools for dancers warming up before the camera begins to roll.
Questions to Ask Before You Book
Before you hit the confirm button on your reservation, consider the specific needs of your project. Are you planning to use complex lighting rigs? We encourage you to walk through the dimensions of your chosen studio mentally or physically to ensure your equipment fits alongside your performers. If you have questions about which of our five studios will best suit your specific camera angles or group size, our team is happy to provide guidance based on the technical requirements of your shoot.
Remember to account for setup and teardown time within your booking window. While our rooms are versatile, they are shared spaces. By arriving on time and ensuring you leave the studio exactly as you found it, you help us maintain the high standards that our students and professional renters expect. By planning your arrival and departure within your allotted time, you ensure a stress-free experience for your entire creative team.
