Mirrors, daylight, sprung floors and clean backgrounds — why a dance studio is one of the best photo and video locations in Vienna, and how to plan a smooth shoot.

Dance photographers, music video crews, content creators and brands are discovering what dancers have always known: a good dance studio is a fantastic place to shoot.

Why Shoot in a Dance Studio?

  • Natural daylight through large windows — soft, flattering light for portraits and movement.
  • Full-wall mirrors for creative reflections, multiplied silhouettes and behind-the-scenes angles.
  • Open, clean space — up to 100 m² without pillars or clutter, easy to light and easy to frame.
  • A professional sprung floor, so performers can jump, turn and repeat takes safely.
  • Sound system for playback during music videos and choreography shoots.

Popular Shoots in Our Studios

Dance portraits and audition photos, music videos, dance films, social media content, fitness and Pilates campaigns, fashion and activewear shoots, and promotional videos for teachers and companies.

Planning Your Shoot

  1. Pick the light. Morning and early afternoon give the strongest daylight; evenings work well with your own lighting.
  2. Choose the size. 55 m² for portraits and solo work, 90–100 m² for groups, wide shots and lighting setups.
  3. Book setup time. Include time for lights, test shots and packing up in your booking.
  4. Bring your gear. Lights, stands, backdrops and cameras are welcome — just protect the dance floor (no tape residue, no metal stands directly on the floor without pads).
  5. Mind the mirrors. Plan your angles to keep the crew out of the reflection — or use them on purpose.

Practical Details

The studios are available 07:00–22:00, seven days a week, at Längenfeldgasse 27, 1120 Wien, about five minutes from U6 Längenfeldgasse. Rates start at €20 per hour, including up to 10 people on set; each additional person costs €5 per hour.

Book Your Location

See more on our photo studio rental page or pick your slot directly in the booking calendar. Your booking is confirmed once the online payment is completed — until then the studio is not held for you.

Choosing the Right Room for Your Creative Vision

With five distinct spaces available, selecting the right room is the first step in ensuring your project runs smoothly. Our largest halls, Studio 1 and Studio 4, both offer 100 m² of space, making them the ideal choice for large crews, complex lighting setups, or filming choreography that requires significant lateral movement. These rooms provide the most flexibility for positioning cameras and equipment without feeling cramped.

For slightly smaller productions, Studios 2 and 3 offer 90 m² each, which is often plenty for medium-sized teams or solo rehearsals. If you are planning a more intimate shoot, such as a portrait session, a headshot portfolio update, or a focused Pilates video, Studio 5 at 55 m² is perfectly suited. Because these rooms are utilized by our own academy daily, they are kept in pristine condition, ensuring you walk into a clean and professional environment every time you book.

Understanding Our Pricing and Extra Costs

We believe in transparent, straightforward pricing. We charge the same rate regardless of the time of day, weekend, or holiday, so you never have to worry about peak-hour surcharges. Studio 5 is available for €20 per hour, Studios 2 and 3 are €25 per hour, and our two largest rooms, Studio 1 and 4, are €30 per hour. Each booking includes space for up to 10 people at no additional cost.

If your team is larger than 10, simply add €5 per additional person per hour. This flat-rate model makes it easy to calculate your budget before you arrive. For productions requiring a longer timeframe, we accommodate four-hour half-day blocks or full-day eight-hour sessions. If you are willing to let the academy document your session for our promotional channels, we are happy to offer a 10% discount on your booking.

Logistics and Arrival

Located at Längenfeldgasse 27 in the 12th district, we are conveniently situated for anyone traveling within Vienna. You can reach us easily via the U6 or U4 lines at the Längenfeldgasse station, which is just a five-minute walk from our door. If you prefer overground transport, we are also easily accessible via tram 62 and the Badner Bahn (WLB), making it simple for your cast and crew to gather here regardless of where they are coming from.

Upon arrival, you will find that every studio is equipped with essential amenities, including full-wall mirrors and both fixed and portable ballet barres. We also provide changing rooms so your performers can prep on-site, and climate control in every hall to keep your team comfortable throughout the shoot. If you are hauling heavy equipment, please arrive a few minutes early to ensure you are ready to start exactly at your booked time.

Questions to Ask Before You Book

To avoid any last-minute stress, we recommend confirming your production needs before finalizing your payment. First, consider how many people will be on set; if you are fluctuating around the 10-person threshold, it is better to account for everyone upfront to avoid billing adjustments. Second, verify if your equipment requires specific power needs, and remember that your setup time must be included in your rental block.

If you are filming something that requires very specific audio recording, feel free to ask about the typical environment of the building. While our studios are a quiet place to work, they are part of a busy academy. We recommend booking your slots when you know you will need the most privacy. Always ensure your payment is completed through our secure online portal immediately, as our system does not hold rooms for unpaid or pending requests.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

The most frequent error we see is underestimating the time needed for setup and breakdown. Whether you are bringing in lighting stands, backdrops, or multiple cameras, that time counts toward your rental period. We strongly advise adding a buffer of 15 to 30 minutes to both ends of your shoot to ensure you are not rushing to clear out when the next booking arrives.

Another point to remember is to manage your space effectively. While our studios are spacious, bringing excessive gear that is not needed for your specific shot can make a 100 m² room feel cluttered quickly. Keep your gear organized along the edges of the room to maintain clear pathways for your talent. Finally, do not wait until the last minute to book your preferred studio; because our rooms are in constant use by the academy’s students and teachers, our calendar fills up weeks in advance.
